New Books in German Lendle Pham

We are delighted that two Penguin Random House titles have made it onto New Books in German's Autumn 2021 recommendations list:

Jo Lendle: A Kind of Family (Penguin): "A witty and engaging read [...]. With nuanced language and startling images, Lendle sketches utterly believable and riveting characters whose inner lives open up more and more as the novel goes on."

Khuê Pham: Wherever You Are (btb): "Intriguing, immediate and occasionally harrowing, 'Wherever You Are' is a moving tale of exile, identity and self-discovery. [...] In an increasingly global society, where people continue to be displaced, this novel movingly foregrounds the importance of having a deep connection to one's roots and cultural origins."

New Books in German promotes German-language literature and non-fiction for translation into all languages. Twice a year, NBG convenes expert juries in the UK and the US to select titles from submissions by German-language publishers. The juries, which are made up of translators, agents, editors, publishers, scouts and booksellers, select titles that represent the range of new German-language publications and that they believe have a chance of success in the English-language markets.

With the recommendation of New Books in German, the selected titles not only qualify for potential translation funding by the Goethe Institute, among others, but also enjoy increased visibility with the NBG endorsement.
